Siamese Kittens for Sale
The regal Siamese cat’s origins lie in the country now known as Thailand, but formerly known as Siam. The modern version of the Siamese is a slender cat with long, elegant legs and a narrow, wedge-shaped head. The eyes are large with a subtle outward slant and the irises are often an intense sapphire blue. These cats were known for their longevity and vitality, as well as their pleasant nature and hardiness. Siamese Cats were all the rage when they first made an appearance in Eastern Europe in the late 1800's. This breed of cat can be docile, easy-going, playful, and very affectionate, and may require quite a bit of dedication from its caretaker. The elegant-looking Siamese cat can also be extremely intelligent!
A Siamese's Specific Needs
The Traditional Siamese has a thicker, lusher coat than its Modern counterpart and gentle grooming with a slicker brush or comb keeps the coat in great condition. With this breed's fine coat, a little more than a light going-over with a rubber brush is required. For the more sensitive areas like the belly, face, around the ears and throat, a rubber grooming brush can be used. Nutrition should also be monitored as weight gain can be observed in this lean cat with even a small amount of overindulgence. Since Siamese are energetic and love jumping and climbing, perches and cat trees as well as plenty of toys should be available throughout the home. Most cats preferably live indoors with a moderate (40 to 55%) humidity and temperature range (67 to 75°F).
Is a Siamese Kitten Right for Me?
Siamese cats are known for their affectionate nature and vocal antics. When they want attention, they will certainly let you know it! While there are some basic grooming needs that must be attended to regularly, this breed is not known to shed as much as the longer-haired breeds. This breed is also highly trainable and intelligent, but may require a little more patience and attention than some other breeds – especially in regards to training and level of attention needed daily. The Siamese will require as much time and affection as it gives to its caretaker, making this cat rather demanding when it comes to setting aside time to snuggle or play. However, caring for this clever, loving, and beautiful breed is a very rewarding experience!
