Facts and Information
This species is also called a Brown Dottyback, as some specimens are duskier colored, depending on the area of collection. Others are a bright lemon yellow or a softer pastel yellow. All varieties are quite attractive. Like many of the Pseudochromids, this species has bred in captivity and is commonly available. In the wild, this fish frequents tidal lagoon areas and seaward reefs, often around rock ledges or coral rubble. All the Dottyback fishes are severely prone to jumping from the aquarium. Fortunately, they are rather hardy and disease resistant, and rebound from the stresses of shipping rather well, even when poor shipping methods are employed. Ragged fins heal readily under normal aquarium conditions and most, if not all, prepared foods are readily taken, as are frozen types. Small live foods are highly relished and help to stave off the frequent color loss Dottybacks experience in captivity.
